About

FLABmag is an arts & culture magazine based in Sacramento, California created for discriminating smart asses. We are so discriminating, in fact, we even created a separate website called “Special Edition” where we focus on single subject content. This sister site will be ad-free and short-lived.

Submissions for Review:

We receive about 50 press releases and emails from film festivals, promoters, record companies, bands, etc. per week. While not a ton, it most certainly is a lot. We make the effort to go through all of them combing through dross to find gems (no offense). We consider the magazine more of a curated journal, subjectively selecting what to cover and/or review. We rarely publish harshly critical reviews unless the artists or musicians are particularly dire for concrete objective reasons. Then we simply must inform our readership why they should stay the hell away.

So, if you think anyone of the FLAB writers would be interested in reviewing your artwork, exhibition, film, music don’t hesitate to email us. If we’re not interested, we will probably not respond. If we are, then we will.

Contribute Your Writings:

FLABmag is interested in broadening perspectives on a trans-national level. In order to do so it is imperative to be inclusive. That means allowing for a variety of voices and styles of expression. And that’s the academicized way of saying we’re interested in expanding our group of contributing writers. We can’t pay you but at least you’ll get publishing credit in an awesome magazine/journal. So send us a sample of your writing: a review, interview or essay on a relevant topic and we’ll get back to you.
